Second Life versus First Life

No first land for newbies in second life

I couldn't believe that the Lindens have stopped all First Land in second Life for us newbies. What are we supposed to do now for land.Is this just another way for theLindens to get money out of us. Each time I logged on to second life I searched for First Land what a disappointment. Have you seen the price of land we don't stand a chance of getting any. I even looked today for places to live and the rental is ridiculous. In my last post I said I was getting bored now I am getting angry. What do other newbies think. Post a comment let us know.

Standing upright again but bored with Second Life

Well I logged on and hey presto I can stand again. the problem I have now is that I am bored. I feel like I am flying round endlessly after all there are only so many people you can talk to and so many bars you can visit before everything becomes much of a muchness I feel I need a purpose in Second Life. In reality I can't sit and do nothing. I know lots of people are spending time in SL just to meet people but thats not for me. I met a really charming guy who spends nearly 18 hours on Sl he has three homes and spends all his time furnishing them and going shopping. I met a lady who took me to her home and invited me to sit in the hot tub when we got out I asked for a towel and she said why we are not really wet. Then why did we sit in the hot tub!!!!!

stuck in sitting position in second life

I was sitting down when I teleported to another location and guess what I am still sitting down. I have tried to stand up but end up sitting again I hope when I log back on I can stand up. Has this happened to anybody else.

no land, no home,lots of friends and a good business idea for second life

Still can't get land. I need a home. Went to Hawai sorry I know I have spelt it wrong. Met a lovely man called Marc from Germany. At least he didn't try to chat me up. I started off this blog saying I wanted to earn money in second life and I thought there was great potential. My problem is I have very little computing skills, but the more I travel round second life the more I am sure a business would succeed. From what I have seen the businesses there know little or nothing about advertising their products or stores. the newspaper in there doesnt seem to do much to promote the businesses. I think if this was done correctly there is a lot of potential out there. So many bussiness's so many people on line who do not know where to go or how to get there.. Keep watching this space. By the way your ideas would be greatly accepted.

Second Life crashed

Its Monday 17.40 gmt couldn't get onto second life it crashed and crashed my pc. Had to reboot but when I got onto second life I had no idea where I was it wasn't where I was last time I logged out. Then I couldn't fly or move so I will try later keep you informed. Please if you visit this page leave comments so I know I am not talking to myself.

How does a Newbie in second life buy land. Each time I loc on to search for land there is none available. Does anyone out there know when this first land is released.I tried once when some first land was released but the area was that full I wasn't allowed in. I will never make my first million in second life at this rate.

How to earn money in second life

Well my first posting on second life I said there must be potential to make money. I am still not sure how to other than sitting on camping chairs. So if there is anyone out there with any hints or tips I would be grateful. Buying and selling land seems to be a good idea, but I think I will stay away from that one till I have a bit more experience in this virtual world. I suppose I could try being a lap dancer but since I have only just learned how to walk in a straight line I don't think my dancing would be up to much.

Well I escaped from secondlife greeting area with a landmark to the statue of libery. It was quite amazing really though there wasn't many people about and lots of the areas around were restricted. After that I went to the empire state building. I am sure dependent on what time of day you go onto secondlife depends on the type of people you meet. Here in the UK if I go on about 1pm gmt I tend to meet lots of Europeans, late evening it seems to be mostly Americans. I have to say the latter seem to be the most friendly. When I went to the Empire State Building I met a French guy tried to get into conversation but all he offered was to take me to a disco and made a rather lurid offer of a sexual nature. I wish I knew how to slap a face when confronted with these offers. Any way I digress after strolling around for a while I found another landmark to Hawai Mountain. Now thats a place to visit with free huts to make a home out of. I think though if I am not too tired I will try to go back onto Second Life later in the evening. Will keep you informed.

what a nightmare it has been trying to get away from the greeting area. The place seemed full of people just wandering round with no purpose. The problem I had was that there didnt seem to be any information on how too get away from there. I tried clicking on a few posters there with landmarks but everytime I tried to teleport there I was told not allowed too many people there. I tried flying round but couldn't find anywhere then someone shouted land available so I checked the search button , found new land and would you believe when I teleported there I couldn't move and the screen kept flashing up too many people cannot enter parcel. I was beginning to feel that I was stuck in limbo forever. However I teleported back to the greeting area (This teleporting is great if only we had it in real life that would cut down on the greenhouse effect). Found an official helper and got loads of landmarks two of which are The Empire State Building and Statue of Libery. So guess what folks being English I havent been there in reality so I am going now. I will report back later.P.S. Doug left a reply in the comments for you

lost in space

Its early am in secondlife and there doesn't seem to be many people about. I am wondering round aimlessly now and unsure what to do next. I don't know how to get away from here. I have tried flying round to find somewhere else to go but these barriers keep popping up telling me I am not allowed access. I am really glad that you don't get hungry or thirsty in secondlife cos I seem to have spent ages trying to escape. There is a poster to click on to take me to orientation castle but I can't even get there because apparently the place is full and it won't let me in. I think I will sign out and try again later. If I manage to escape this place I will let you know. Wish me luck.

Fly like a bird

I can fly, not in a straight line but I can fly. Ended up on Help Island, got loads of freebies don't know what half of them are for but they may come in handy. How am I supposed to know what a script is. Couldn't find my way off the island so just flew and ended back at orientation island. Loads of people about, but no conversation they were all too busy changing their appearance. So I found this thing clicked on it and it teleported me to (I have no idea) it was some sort of greeting area, although none came to great me. I did meet a guy, well it may have been a female i am not sure because he,she or it had not managed to do anything with its appearance. I did find out he was from china and his english was not to good. It is really weird here though because everything is grey and seems to develop as you move. I did hear someone say it was because there were so many people about, and something about ressing. I am sure I will soon get the hang of these new terms. there are lots of information boards in this area so I may be some time but I will keep you informed. If there are any neewbees out there to give me a hand I would be grateful

the Eagle has landed

Well I arrived. At a place called orientation island.There were so many people there, and some really strange looking ones. I tried walking and looked like a drunk. I wobbled from side to side and my goodness you can walk through things its amazing, and just as well because I couldn't steer myself very well. I wonder do they have second life aspirin because I was walking into everything. I started to follow this path that had objects to click on, each with instructions on how to do various things. I won't describe them all but the most interesting was how to change your appearance. Iam now wobbling around as a very nubile tall blonde in shorts and tight sweater.I wish it could be that easy in real life. My second life name is Hanna Watkin so if you come across me be gentle I am only new. I am going to have another go on there later so I will keep you posted.

my first thoughts

I dont even know if this is going out anywhere. I might be typing needlesly I hope not. So if there is anyone out there and you can post notes or whatever it is people do on these blogs I would be grateful if you would do whatever it is just so I know someone is reading this. Let me tell you a bit about me. I am a female aged..... lets keep that for another time an ex business lady who has been told about second life I havent been there yet but I think maybe from what I have heard and read there is a possibility that money can be made. My business acumen is in advertising I have done this for twenty tears oops nearly give away my age. However my computer skills are negligible apart from looking at google and going onto ebay. My older children think I will make a fool out of myself so I intend to try to prove them wrong. I am sure there are a lot of people out there with varying skills and if we all pull together who knows what will happen. I am about to log onto this second life thing so each time i do I will write here and let you know what is happening that is if there is anyone there.
